Music Leader

Hours: Part Time

Salary/Benefits: To be determined/ Personnel Manual

Reports To: Pastor

Principal Function: To lead a worship/music ministry that includes praise teams, choirs, band, multimedia, instruments, musicians, artists, and other music considerations to create an inviting worshipful atmosphere where people encounter God.

Responsibility Overview:

  • Along with the Pastor direct the planning, coordination, and evaluation of each worship service
  • Lead and coordinate choir(s), band(s), praise team, soloists, musical specials, instruments, etc.
  • Direct rehearsals necessary to facilitate the worship plan
  • Work with Music and Worship Committees to develop and support goals and objectives
  • Oversee music library and compliance to copyright regulations
  • Lead congregational singing and other worship leadership duties as requested
  • Knowledge to provide a broad scope of music that is relevant, appealing, vibrant, and uplifting
  • Organizing contemporary and traditional style music
  • Provide/coordinate AV slide shows, responsive reading, mission videos, announcements, etc.
  • Support when possible special projects, ministries, weddings, funerals, etc.
  • Encourage spiritual growth and development of musical talents
  • Work closely with Media Team regarding all audio and visual needs
  • Oversee the planning and direction of Christmas, Easter, and special worship presentations
  • Advise in the use of program materials, equipment, supplies, and space
  • Serve as a member of the Church Council, attend staff and denominational meetings
  • Utilize the church website in promoting upcoming worship and music developments
  • Make a report for the Quarterly Business Meetings and Church Newsletter
  • Prepare and annual budget

Qualification Considerations:

  • A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a clear growing personal relationship with Him
  • A passion for Christ centered worship/music and strong desire to serve God in this position
  • Possess a genuine love for music with musical skills to reach the current generation
  • Ability to oversee the technical aspects of worship
  • Organizational and administrative abilities
  • Specific worship/musical skills and qualifications, personal goals, and accomplishments
  • Support of our Constitution, and Vision, Mission, and Value Statements
  • Support the BGAV and denominational relationships
  • College education and experience preferred
