Sunday School for Children

Our curriculum is “Bible Teaching for Kids” by Lifeway. Bible Teaching for Kids, provides a balanced approach to central Bible concepts, essential Bible skills, and foundational Bible stories for babies through preteen. The three year scope and sequence plan uses a precept-upon approach to teach Bible concepts, skills and stories. In this way, biblical learning in each age group builds upon previous learning. Go to Lifeway.com/curriculumguide for our lesson plans.

Nursery

“Jesus Said, Let the Little Children come unto me.” Mattthew 19:14. Let us be a part of your infants’ and toddlers guidance team as we introduce and explore God’s love for them. Through age-appropriate Bible stories, songs, game and activities, your children will begin to learn about Jesus and His love. Caring teachers are here and ready to show God’s love through the Nursery Ministry.

Ages – babies, 1’s & 2’s. Nursery is located on the first floor of the Sanctuary building.

Preschool

“Teach your children to choose the right path and when they are older they will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Our Preschool ministry continues to build on basic Bible truths as your child grows in their knowledge of Jesus and His love for them. Bible stories are illustrated in many fun and creative activities. We look forward to assisting your child as they begin their walk with our Lord.

Ages – 3 through kindergarten. Classroom is located on the second floor of the Sanctuary building.

Children

“And Jesus increased in statue and favor with God and Man.” Luke 2:52

Our Children Department is divided into 2 classes at this time. Children I of “Learning to Read” students in the 1st & 2nd grades, and Children II “Readers” which are 3rd, 4th & 5th grades. Each week the sessions are filled with age-related activities that lead up to a central Bible Truth and Bible story. Through a variety of teaching methods kids are enabled to internalize these truths and apply these truths to their lives. Scripture memorization is also emphasized during the session. Our children get confidence in God’s Word and learn how to relate what they learn to their daily lives. Sunday School is full of learning in a fun and loving environment. It is exciting for both the learner and the teacher. Parents may join us at anytime they would like to do so. Some outside activities may take place as the children accomplish different goals and as they want to help others.

Ages – 1st through 5th grades. Classrooms are located on the second floor of the Sanctuary building.

Wednesday Night Activities for Children

Children's Choir
Children's Choir has practice every Wednesday night from 6:00-6:30 pm. The Children's Choir is for children ages 4-10 years old and performs every other month in the Sunday morning worship service.

Mission Friends
Mission Friends is a weekly class for 3-5 year olds.  We meet each Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 pm in the preschool room of the CLC.  Our purpose is to teach the little ones about missionaries and the work they do around the world.  Each month we have  a new missionary family that we learn about and pray for.  Our missionaries come from around the world and this provides us an opportunity to learn about new cultures as well.  Our hour is broken into story time, craft trime, snack time as play time, with each activity based upon the missionary of the month.  It's an excellent way for the littlest members of our church to learn about spreading the work of Jesus.

Girls in Actions (GA)
GA's meet each Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 pm. Girls in Actions is a WMU missions organization for girls who are age 6-11 or in grades 1-6.  GA can help girls begin to develop spiritually towards a missions's lifestyle as they learn what God is doing in the world and discover their place in God's plan. The purpose of GA is summed up in the GA Pledge, Motto, GA Scripture Verse, and GA Lifestyle Verse:

  • GA Motto:  Go forward!
  • GA Pledge:  As a GA, I will do my best to live a missions lifestyle that honors God by learning about missions, praying for missions, giving to missions, doing missions, and participating in the work of the church.
  • GA Scripture Verse:  "Give thanks to the Lord.  Worship Him.  Tell the Nations what he has done.   Announce how honored he is."  Isaiah 12:4 NIrV

Royal Ambassador (RA)
RA's meet each Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 pm. Royal Ambassador is a Bible-centered educational organization for boys in grades 1-6 committed to living out the RA Pledge. This Pledge is part of personal and chapter (group of RAs) accountability. The RA Motto, "We are Ambassadors for Christ," not only gives the organization its name, but also gives the boys and leaders a lifestyle goal. This Motto is taken from Scripture, specifically 2 Corinthians 5:20.
